No sign-up, no email required, no macros. All formulas run locally in Excel; nothing is sent anywhere. Optional: CSV column template.

What it calculates

  • Average, P95 and peak CU % and how often you burst above 100%.
  • Idle hours and an hour-by-hour usage profile.
  • Throttling check: paste throttling data and it flags when your capacity is under pressure.
  • Current monthly cost of your capacity at list price.
  • Indicative savings potential: a low–high range based on your idle share and unused headroom, clearly labelled as an estimate.

How to use it in 10 minutes

  1. Open the Fabric Capacity Metrics app, Compute page, last 14 days.
  2. On the CU % over time chart: More options (…) → Export data.
  3. Paste the timestamp and CU % columns into the Data sheet.
  4. Pick your current SKU and billing on Inputs, then read Results.

The Instructions sheet covers each step and the caveats, including how Fabric smoothing affects the numbers.

The workbook is a diagnosis. Which SKU, which hours to pause and the best billing option are part of the free 48h check below.

Prices: Microsoft public list price in USD ($0.18 per CU-hour pay-as-you-go; 1-year reservation ≈ 41% lower; 730 hours/month). Real prices depend on agreement and currency. All prices can be edited in the workbook. No benchmarks are included: every result comes from your data. Source: Microsoft Fabric pricing, Fabric licenses (Microsoft Learn).
