Are you overpaying for F64?
F64 is where a lot of teams land after a P1 migration or a trial, often without checking whether the workload needs it. Four things decide whether it's the right size:
- Utilization. If peak CU in the Capacity Metrics app rarely goes above 40–50%, a smaller SKU may carry the load.
- Hours actually used. An F SKU on pay-as-you-go can be paused; a capacity idle at night and on weekends is paid for anyway if it never pauses.
- Pay-as-you-go vs reserved. A 1-year reservation is roughly 41% cheaper per hour, but only pays off if the capacity runs most of the month.
- Viewers vs Pro licenses. F64 is the threshold where read-only viewers no longer need Power BI Pro. Going below F64 can move cost from capacity to licenses.

The estimate uses averages. If you'd like it checked against your real Capacity Metrics data, the Capacity Review ($450, 3 business days, no tenant access) looks at your top CU consumers, pause and reservation options, and licensing, and says plainly if there's no meaningful saving.
